Raising Support

We realize asking others for financial support can be hard. To help make the ask a little bit easier, we put together the following steps to assist you in reaching out to others.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us and we’ll help the best we can!

Step 1: Create your support page

Your personal support page is where the people you know will go to make a donation to your cause. It takes a few moments to get set up, but it will be a vital part of how you collect support for this adventure!

Through this site we will handle the collection of all the support you raise so, well, you don’t have to! Each person who donates through your support page will get a tax-deductible receipt they can use for their taxes at the end of the year.

Step 2: Share your story

We know how hard it can be to ask for others to support your cause. For that reason we came up with a few ways to present your cause to others that will hopefully alleviate some of that stress.

Once you have completed Step 1, the easiest way to let people know what you are doing is to directly share it with those in your circle of influence. There are many ways to share it these days and different ways work for different people. Some of the most successful ways we’ve seen are listed below.

Step 3: Train with us!

As the year progresses we will be adding events to the help us all train together in preparation for the real deal! These will be events you can participate in to help ensure you are ready, events where you can invite others and include them on your journey, and events that others can participate in as part of the Freedom Trek series instead of climbing Kilimanjaro.

Check back often as we continue to look for ways to train together, invite others to join, and get to know one another!

Here are some ways to share what you are doing.

Personal Invitation

Frankly, this is the best way to gain support. People want to help the people around them succeed in their goals. A lot of times all they need is just someone to ask them! A personal invitation gets the people around you excited for what you doing and helps them engage them in the cause you are supporting by supporting you. Engage with them, share your why with them and involve them in your journey.

Social Media

Social media is a great way to share your story to a lot of people at once. The downside is that you are constantly competing for others attention so you need to post often. Sharing your story is a great first step to helping others understand what you are doing. Let them know what you are doing and why. Ongoing, you will want to post frequently to get different people involved in what you are doing. Share moments from your training and invite others to get after it with you!

Email

Let’s face it, there are some people who just don’t do social media. (Can you blame them, really?) Email is a great way to get your story in front of someone. Make sure to include your personal connection to the cause you are raising support for. Share your experience(s) and help others understand how you’ve been impacted by what they do or why you feel as strongly as you do about raising support.
